Q is for Queenie #AtoZChallenge

When I was a kid, I remember finding a book in my parents collection called Queenie. It was by a guy called Michael Korda and it became one of those stories that I would think about for weeks, months afterwards. Actually, it was probably years because I still wonder about it now... and that's a LONG time ago.
Looking it up now, I see that it was made into a TV mini series. Shame, I would have liked to have seen it back then. It was such a wonderful rags to riches sort of story.

Queenie by Michael Korda

The seductive and beguiling story of Dawn Avalon, who when wrongfully accused of a crime she didn't commit, flees her homeland to London where she becomes 'Queenie', a star of both the stage and screen.

  1. OMG, Suzy!! I totally watched Queenie when it was on TV!! As a high school kid, I LOVED it - I remember Mia Sarah, Kirk Douglas, Joss Ackland...and a young good looking guy. I never read the book, but as when you read the book, when I saw the miniseries, it really got it hooks into me and had me dreaming about it for ages!
