We've got something totally different for you today!! Author Jacinta Maree (pictured) has cooked up the perfect interactive Halloween story... so what are you waiting for? Get stuck in...

Choose wisely…
It’s time; you wake up more tired than you fell asleep. It was a sleepless night; your nerves had your heart racing and your mind a constant buzz. Today is the day you get out of here. First you pull the blinds back to check out to the streets. It’s not too bad, there appears to be only four infected scattered throughout the neighbourhood. On the counter there are two weapons. A gun and a knife but you can only take one. Which one do you take?

Gun: You take the gun and check the ammo. There's only three bullets remaining and hopefully it’ll last you for a while. You open the door and start to run to the hospital. The streets are filled with zombies but you manage to creep past them. In one of the alleyways an infected jumps you. You panic and fire a bullet into its skull.
The zombie drops but the noise has attracted the others.
Now you’re surrounded and pushed into a dead end.
You fire into the horde till your gun clicks empty. There’s a hole in the bottom of the fence so you dropped to your knees and scamper under. One of them grabs your ankle and pulls, dragging you back and exposing your calve. Pain rips through you and panicked you kick harder and manage to wrestle them off.
Without looking back you limp onwards into an awkward trot towards the hospital.
Once you reach the hospital you find it’s deserted. You think you can hear something coming from one of the rooms. From behind a hand grabs you and you spin around in a jolt. It appears to be a doctor, he quickly steps back as you grab at your chest panting.
“It’s okay. I’m not one of them.” He seems kind; his once white lab coat is splattered with blood.
“Where is everyone?” You ask as you stand back up.
The doctor could only shrug, “I only got here a day before you. I’m hoping they were evacuated by using the helipad on the roof. They must’ve used the radio to phone it in.
It’ll probably attract more infected. But the alternative is sitting around here just waiting for the infected to find us anyway.”
You both decide it’s for the best to call for help. As pre-caution you board up the upper levels as a blockage in case the infected do try to break in. The doctor is off making the call when you suddenly hear banging against the one of the barricades. You tense up, the banging is loud and extremely violent causing the barricade to fall apart. You can hear a voice beyond the door but the person isn’t making any sense.
What do you do? Open the door to see who it is or secure the barricade? –

If you picked to open the door go to Section A:
If you picked to secure the door go to Section B:

Knife: You figure the gun may attract more infected if you were to use it, so you select the knife. You opened the door and start to run to the hospital. The streets are filled with zombies but you manage to creep past them. In one of the alleyways an infected jumps you. You panic and slash the knife sideway, catching its throat. The zombie jerked backwards, letting your neck go as you quickly scamper out of reach.
Once you reach the hospital you find it’s deserted.
You think you can hear something coming from one of the rooms. You ease the door back cautiously and craned your neck to see. From behind a hand grabs you and you spin around in a jolt. Out of reflex you ram the knife down, striking the man in the heart killing him instantly.
You feel even more alone now, wondering the empty halls of the hospital wing. As you searched every corridor for anything of use, you come across a note written in black marker over the wall.
Attention Survivors: If you are here, call 911 and call for a helicopter for rescue. Be careful, the noise will attract the infected so make sure to barricade properly.
Part of the note seemed to be faded away, as if someone had tried to scrub the permanent marker off but gave up.
Beware of the man in the white lab coat. Good luck.
Quickly, you start to board up the upper levels in preparation of the break in. As you are securing one of the doors you jump backwards at a loud bang came from the other side of the barricade. The person becomes extremely violent causing the barricade that you had set up start to fall apart. You can hear a voice beyond the door but the person isn’t making any sense.
What do you do? Open the door to see who it is or secure the barricade?

If you picked to open the door go to Section C:
If you picked to secure the door go to Section D:

Section A:
Gun- Open door: You can hear a woman’s voice pleading to help so you promptly open the door. As soon as you do a small frame woman comes bursting through. You quickly take a few steps back, inspecting her carefully.
She is covered in so much blood it’s as if she’s been swimming in a pool full of it. The woman suddenly attacks and pin you to the ground. Before she could bite you the doctor beats her over the head with a fire hydrant. The girl collapses on top of you as you quickly shove her off.
As the helicopter nears, you can hear the chaos of the infected flood the hospital. You dare to even walk up to the edge and glance down to see the streets below vanish beneath the horde of human bodies.
There was banging coming from behind. You both look over alarmed. The infected had gotten past your barricade; you forgot to close the door again when you opened it for the woman. They are too close, the helicopter won’t land. The infected are now tearing at the hinges of the door.
The helicopter parks on the next building’s roof but you can’t reach it.
The doctor knows a way to get around the back and reach the other roof. He says there’s a long ladder on the other roof that he can set up as a bridge for you to climb over, but he needs you to stay here to ensure the infected don’t break through the door.
Do you stay and secure the door or do you demand to go with him?

If you picked to stay behind go to Section E:
If you picked to go with the doctor go to Section F:

Section B:
Gun- Hospital- Secure door: You can hear a woman’s voice pleading, but you choose to ignore her. Instead you secure the barricade and join the doctor back on the rood for evacuation. After two hours the helicopter nears and you can hear the chaos of the infected flood the hospital. You dare to even walk up to the edge and glance down to see the streets below vanish beneath the horde of human bodies.
The stampeding noise was a loud scream coming from inside the building; thankfully though they couldn’t get past the barriers you had set up.
The doctor doesn’t look that great; he is sweating and turning pale. The helicopter lands on the roof but the officers won’t let you on so quickly. They see the cut on your leg and think you’re infected so they won’t let you board. As they examine you both they reveal beneath the doctor’s sleeve a large bite mark. He starts to panic and tries to force himself onto helicopter. As a result the guards shove you away and leave you both behind.
Stranded, a fight breaks out with you and the doctor. He’s stronger than you and manages to get the upper hand. You try to use his weight against him, but the doctor punches you to the ground. While dazed, he picks you up by your collar and tosses you off the building.
The feeling of weightlessness is brief as you flip head over heels towards the ground.
You’re dead.

Section C:Knife- Hospital- Open door: You can hear a woman’s voice pleading to help so you promptly open the door. As soon as you do a small frame woman comes bursting through. You quickly take a few steps back, inspecting her carefully.
She is covered in so much blood it’s as if she’s been swimming in a pool full of it. The woman suddenly runs at you snapping her teeth. You try to dodge her but she’s fast and vicious, and it doesn’t take long until she had you pinned underneath her. You hold her head up into your palms, her snapping teeth inching closer and closer to your neck as you try to lean away.
You can’t hold her back. She’s too strong as her teeth sink into your neck and you feel her thrashing from side to side, ripping yours skin open.
Pain explodes. Your vision is spiralling in black, creating a tunnel of haze. Soon you can’t fight her off anymore, the blood weeping down your side and pooling into a puddle on the ground is sending her into a frenzy. Your world snaps shut in defeat. It’s all over.
You’re dead.

Section D:Knife- Hospital- Secure door: You can hear a woman’s voice pleading, but you choose to ignore her. Instead you secure the barricade and go to signalling the helicopter for aid. The officer over the radio informs you it’ll take roughly two hours for them to arrival to be waiting on the roof. As the helicopter nears, you can hear the chaos of the infected flood the hospital. You dare to even walk up to the edge and glance down to see the streets below vanish beneath the horde of human bodies.
The stampeding horde was a loud scream coming from inside the building; thankfully though they couldn’t get past the barriers you had set up. The helicopter lands on the roof and you run towards it. The officers don’t let you get so quickly, they want to ensure you’re not possibly infected. You show them you’re fine after some time convincing them. They go to let you on when the door leading onto the roof buckles under the horde. Panicked, you jump into the helicopter as the zombies rush at you. The helicopter starts to lift off but it’s too late, they managed to grab onto the legs of the helicopter and tipped it off balance. The more they lingered the more zombies latched on until it was too much, spinning the helicopter out of control.
You can fill your stomach clench as everything spun out of focus, the panicked shouting of the pilot blasting commands into the radio soon turned to ringing gibberish. You brace yourself and slam your eyes close as the helicopter rams into the side of the building and explodes.
You’re dead.

Section E:Gun- Stay behind and guard the door: You stay behind and make sure the zombies don’t break through the door. From where you wait you can see the doctor emerge on the other side of the roof and run to the helicopter. You quickly figuring out that the doctor wasn’t going to grab the ladder and help you over as he tries to climb into the helicopter.
The officers inspect him and find a deep bite mark hidden underneath his sleeve.
Without a word they shoot the doctor in the head. Now is your chance.
You know you’re not infected so you push off the door and run towards the other building.
The zombies chase you relentlessly, but they can’t catch you as you make the two meter jump from roof top to roof top. You reach the helicopter where they inspect you for bite marks and let you board. The zombies can’t make the jump across so they can’t reach the helicopter; you all take off safely and return to sanctuary.
Congratulations. You made it.

Section F:Gun- Go with the doctor: You don’t trust him, so both you and the doctor go off together to reach the helicopter. The doctor tries to take you around the back, but with no one holding the door the zombies burst through and they are hot on your tail. You don’t have time to run around the side, you have to make the jump across the roof.
The doctor jumps over first but he doesn’t make it and falls to his death.
You hesitate suddenly scared you won’t make the jump either. As you go start to run, you feel an arm grab onto your shirt and pull you back.
You jump anyway but the zombie has pulled you off course. You hit the other side and dangle from the edge. You can’t hold on and feel yourself slipping.
The rescue squad can’t catch you in time; you slip and fall.
You’re dead.

So how did you do? You  still alive? ;)
